Don't Let Horsepower Escape From Your Car. Get Performance Honda Acura Exhaust Header

The first major component of your performance exhaust system is the exhaust header (exhaust manifold). Most Honda Acura come with a stock crude cast iron log-type exhaust manifold from the factory. However Honda Acura stock manifolds are designed with some performance in mind than the ones found on a domestic cars there is more power to be made with a real tubular header. How much power you make with a performance exhaust header depends also on what is behind the header. If the stock exhaust system includes restrictive muffler design, small diameter exhaust pipes with a lots of wrinkle bends on them the header is not going to have a chance of making a big difference in the performance and horsepower output of your Honda Acura. A good exhaust header can be expected to make 3-5 horsepower with the stock exhaust system from the header back. That sounds disappointing but on a engine with numerous modifications the same performance (aftermarket) header can gain you around 10 horsepower. If you want to get the most horsepower out of your exhaust system, you will have to replace the stock muffler with performance one. You will also have to upgrade the catalytic converter to a high flowing converter. A good performance exhaust system can gain you anywhere from 5 to 15 horsepower depending on how modified your engine is. Performance Honda Acura headers usually come in 4-2-1 design (four pipes, two pipes one pipe). Each cylinder has its own exhaust pipe than they merge into a pair and each pair of pipes combines into a single pipe. Usually cylinders 4 and 1 are combined and cylinder 2 and 3 make the second pair. The cylinders are combined in such a way because the engine pistons fire 1 and 3 then 2 and 4 and the exhaust of cylinder 4 is going to create a little (from 5 to 15 psi) negative pressure for a cylinder 1 that is going to help to suck out the exhaust gas out of that cylinder.

They are usually painted in black or white with heat resistant paint. They could also be made entirely out of stainless steel. If you install an exhaust header made of stainless steel, make sure that you wipe the header after installation with mineral spirit. The reason for that is all the fingerprints and oil left on it. If they are not wiped off, ones the header gets hot they will stay there for ever and your new exhaust header will not look as good as it should. Clean the exhaust Honda Acura header only the first time it gets hot after that it is not necessary unless you want to. Installing performance header is quite easy. Most aftermarket headers are design to use all of the factory mounting points and brackets. When shopping for a header look for clean welds and thick flange plates for a good seal. The flange plates are the ones with holes that are used for mounting the header to the engine and other exhaust components. The stock gasket will work perfectly fine with your performance exhaust header. Make sure to check before you buy a performance Honda Acura exhaust header if the engine in your car is the original or it’s an engine swap. Most headers don’t have brackets for mounting the factory heat shield but it is pretty sure you will want to show off your new header. Good performance exhaust headers for Honda and Acura are made by Bosal, Dc Sports, Pacesetter, Flowtech, Edelbrook and Vibrant. Performance exhaust header could be used on Prelude, Civic, Integra, RSX or any other model Honda Acura car.
